At West, we’re dedicated to making a difference in our local community and beyond. So we have chosen a few things in which to target our support them in a substantial ways, driven by a shared spirit of compassion and togetherness.
Here’s what we currently put our energy into:
We have a special relationship with Spotswood Primary School over the road. We sponsor their annual Citizenship award, throw a Mothers’ Day Brunch at the school for kids’ caregivers each year, provide volunteers for their HPP reading programme, bake delicious morning teas for the staff and pray regularly for what’s going on at the school. We also extend Chaplaincy and Pastoral care to the school and staff, and we’re actively involved in the Breakfast in Schools initiative.
Our Food Cupboard initiative stands as a testament to the care we have for our community. Church members contribute groceries weekly, and we provide food parcels and budgeting assistance to those who reach out.
We proudly support Kiwi friends working in South Asia for Fairtrade businesses, assisting vulnerable women in gaining a life of freedom. We don’t just give money, we also pray for them and keep the church regularly updated on how they’re going.
It’s essential to mention that our Sunday services and church-based activities are designed to inspire our community to make a difference throughout the entire week.
