As well as Sunday morning stuff, various groups meet regularly throughout the year, and some meet for a set period to spend time on something particular, like discussing a book or preparing for baptism.
Here are some of the groups that meet during the week at the moment:
Our movie and discussion group meets on Tuesday nights. We aim to choose movies that explore themes in the preaching series that’s running at the same time. In the past, Slumdog Millionaire has screened during our month of prayer and self-denial for tranzsend (the Baptist overseas Missionary Society), and Elizabeth: The Golden Age screened when we were discussing singleness on Sundays. The group watches a movie each week and discusses it over supper.
Two Bible study groups meet fortnightly, one on Tuesday afternoons, the other on Thursday evenings.
Blokes and Cokes is a chance for men to catch up over a drink, fortnightly on Mondays at West Bar in Westown.
Play Group on Thursday mornings for pre-schoolers and their adults. We have all sorts of play features at a local Spotswood home.
Get Real is for all young people from year 7 up, their friends, families and mentors, and the format changes each year according to what demographic blips and bulges we have. Get Real meets once a month on a Sunday evening. We have dinner together, cause we reckon meeting without eating is cheating. In addition, our year 9 -13’s combine with either Northpoint Youth on Wednesday nights, or Central Baptist youth on Friday nights.
Christianity Explored is a seven week course to explore who Jesus is, why he came, and what it means to follow him. We ran this in July 2015. We’d like to run it again soon.
