K.R.West is short for Kingdom Resources West and is a service that we offer in association with the Kingdom Resources Trust (Spreydon, in Christchurch)

We live in a divided society. There is real poverty - families unable to feed children, relationships in tatters, young people destroyed by hopelessness. There is also greater wealth - people enjoy more of life's 'good things' than ever before.

Kingdom Resources was established in 1988 (K.R.West was established in May 2000) to help bridge the gap. We try to bring people and resources together where they're needed most. We call it the 'Money-Go-Round'.

Budget Advice

Each client is assigned a Christian volunteer budget advisor to teach them how to get out of debt and stay out of debt.

K.R.West volunteers demonstrate God's love by showing that they care and by taking time with people who have often lost hope. We provide a hand up, not just a hand out.

Interest free loans

The poor have limited access to regular banks. People on low incomes are considered high credit risks. So they often seek credit elsewhere with high interest rates (even higher than 40 per cent) and enter a never-ending debt spiral. They are unable to repay the principal debt because of the high interest payments.

K.R.West through Kingdom Resources lends to people in need and also consolidates debts, lending money interest-free, and spreading loan repayments over a manageable time period. Loans are only made to local people. However, receiving the loan is just the beginning. Loan clients must commit to a budget for the duration of the loan, usually two to three years. They work alongside one of K.R.Wests' budget advisers. In many cases their budget is very tight leaving only $2 or $3 discretionary income for the income.

The thought that someone has trusted them enough to lend them money interest-free, plus the budget advice they receive, is a huge boost to Kingdom Resources' clients. Ninety-eight per cent repay their loans in full!

How can you loan money interest free?

Jesus told us to use our resources to help others - this is one way we can give to others again and again and again.

The basic idea is simple. It revolves around interest-free loans. Kingdom Resources helps debt-burdened people with interest-free loans. How! Because other people invest in Kingdom Resources at no interest.

As loan clients repay their loans, that money is then available to be lent out again... and again... and again. The money is not just helping one person, it is giving hope to many.
